Our Story

A Brief History

The Church of Christ at Logansport met for the first time on July 19, 1970 and consisted of the Jerry Saltsman (Evangelist) family and three other families.

The Church met in the minister’s home for a short while but as the congregation grew a larger space was required. Morocco Funeral Chapel graciously offered the use of their chapel for services, however it was not long before the chapel area became too small and the Church rented space at the Logansport YMCA for Sunday services.

In November 1971, encouraged by their steady growth, the congregation purchased a tract of land consisting of 27-3/4 acres, located at 2347 S Burlington, Ave. in Logansport. It is on this site that a new house of worship would be built.

In 1975 the congregation purchased a church building located on 9th and Broadway in Logansport and continued worshiping there until 1987 when a new building for worship was constructed on the acreage purchased in 1971. We have been meeting in this building ever since.

God has continued to bring growth to our congregation and the need for a larger sanctuary space and more classrooms became evident. We dedicated the new worship space in November 2014 and have added an additional classroom during the winter of 2016.

Several ministers have spiritually guided the congregation as it commits to fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 18:19-20). God continues to bless us by allowing us to grow as we worship in Spirit and Truth. Since February 1996, Jeff Strite has served as the Preaching Minister of our congregation.
