The Galatians were clothed with Christ, but they’d been convinced that Jesus wasn’t enough. Someone had told them they needed to follow rules and laws to be acceptable to God. Why was that false?
Paul “stood in the gap.” A heresy was threatening the churches in Galatia that was so powerful that even Peter and Barnabas were swayed by its influence. What Paul did can tell us a lot about the importance of standing firm against false teachings and standing up to protect God’s people.
Christianity is about making a choice. Do I choose to do things God’s way, or mine? Do I choose to follow His wishes, or the wishes of others who disagree with Him? The Bible repeatedly tells us: “Make a choice.”
The Bible has always been honest with us about the potential dangers of discipleship. It speaks of the real possibilities of abuse, prison and even death. Is there ever a time when it’s NOT worth it to be a Christian?
